Fundación (H)Arte, founded by Tamara Kreisler and Silvia Centeno, is a pioneering organization in the implementation of art exhibitions and workshops in hospitals, health centers and nursing homes. Its vision is to create a change in the way people perceive hospitals, from cold and impersonal to warm and welcoming, through the exhibition of artwork. The goal is to use art to help patients, family members and healthcare personnel feel more at ease and accompanied in these places.
There are many studies that consider Art as a therapeutic tool. In 2020, the WHO collected the conclusions of more than 900 of them and recommended for the first time to include art and culture in national health systems. It has been demonstrated that art has a therapeutic and healing capacity that improves the health and well-being of those undergoing hospital treatment.
