OTAZU WINERY

PRODUCT PRESENTATION

Vitral is the iconic wine from Bodega Otazu. It is made with the best Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes that come from two unique plots recognized under the Pago de Otazu Designation of Origin. For the next three decades, Vitral will be accompanied by a work – different each year – by Carlos Cruz-Díez, both on the label and on the wine box. This piece is part of his research on color and will be called 'Cromointerferencias Otazu'.

In this way, and with the aim of presenting a monumental project that transcends its protagonists and is framed in time, Otazu has created a project whose completion is scheduled for the year 2042. During each year of the next 30 years, the corresponding vintage of Vitral will be released in a limited edition. Of the 2013 vintage, 1,800 bottles have been produced. The boxes can be one or three bottles and will be accompanied by a work of art by the Venezuelan artist Cruz-Diez. The box of three allows to separate the work from the packaging. Thus, with a special system of magnets, they can be placed on the wall following a pattern conceived by the Venezuelan master. After 30 years, the result of grouping the 30 individual Chromointerferences will be a work of 2.10 meters by 1.80 meters. This work is manipulable and admits 90,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 different possibilities. Each year the work will be different, in parallel with the vintages with which each reference will be made. The first vintage, that of 2013, went on sale worldwide on December 1, 2018,
